Apr 22, 2019·by Julia Blanter

Boxed, Dole and the Captain Planet Foundation installing a learning garden in Flushing, Queens

Want to win a learning garden for your school, valued at up to $3,000? For the third consecutive year, Boxed is partnering with our friends at Dole and the Captain Planet Foundation to give two elementary schools the gift of gardening.

Students will get their hands dirty in their school’s very own outdoor garden, providing them with everything they need to grow flowers and vegetables, as well as gaining confidence and skills in subjects including maths and science.

Each winning school will receive:

  • Installation of five raised beds for veggies and a pollinator garden
  • Six lessons per grade level (K-5) aligned to common core standards and the framework for K-12 science education
  • Lesson kits filled with all supplies needed to teach lessons (three per grade level)
  • Fully-equipped Mobile Cooking Cart to demonstrate garden-fresh recipes
  • Summer garden management program model
  • Online professional development for teachers

Click here to submit your school. All entries must be submitted by May 31st, 2019.
